Can my child take PDS-08® with other supplements, medications or antibiotics?Updated 4 months ago
As there are no known contraindications with PDS-08® Pediatric Daily Synbiotic, supplements, medications, and antibiotics, it is safe to take PDS-08® alongside these treatments. However, we always recommend checking with your child’s doctor or pediatrician.
While on a course of antibiotics, we do recommend spacing out when your child takes the antibiotic from PDS-08® as far as possible—i.e., one in the morning and one in the evening.
During and after antibiotic use is a good time for probiotics, as numerous studies have evaluated a variety of strains and combinations of strains for their ability to mitigate GI distress during antibiotic use such as antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD).
It's important to note, though, that probiotics are beneficial organisms that are also susceptible to being killed off by antibiotics—especially broad-spectrum antibiotics, which is why we generally recommend trying to separate intake as much as possible if they are to be taken at the same time.
